The cafeteria at Miami Springs Middle School was evacuated late Wednesday morning after multiple people reported falling ill, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.

Miami-Dade firefighters received a call reporting several adults were complaining of feeling sick shortly before noon, said spokeswoman Erika Benitez.

Seventeen units, including a hazmat team, are investigating, Benitez said, and 14 people were taken to area hospitals.

There was no indication that any students at the grades 6-8 school were among those affected at the school 150 S. Royal Poinciana Blvd., Benitez said.
