14-year-old boy on bicycle wasn’t killed by a hit-and-run driver, cops now say

What Pembroke Pines police first thought to be a hit-and-run crash that killed a teenon a bicycle is now believed to be a tragic single-bicycle accident.

Police identified the teenager as 14-year-old Bora Duz.

Bora was found in the road by a passing driver. Initial investigation of Monday’s 8:04 p.m. crash in the 1900 block of Northwest 196th Avenue led police to believe Bora had been the victim of a hit-and-run.

But Tuesday, police said crash investigation and Duz’s injuries indicated no car or driver was involved.

“No other contributing factors beyond the juvenile, and his bicycle are affiliated with the incident,” Pines police said.
