Miami Gardens police say friends Jamilia Young, 24 and Joshua Gonzalez, 38, were socializing outside a home in the 2900 block of Northwest 157th Terrace at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday when a car pulled up and someone opened fire.

Gonzalez was killed in the driveby shooting, but Young’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said. Police haven’t offered a motive and have not released any information on the vehicle believed used in the shooting.

The shooting was among several over the weekend that also left 2-year-old Carnell Williams-Thomas, 31-year-old Shevone Vinson and an unnamed 17-year-old killed by gunfire.

It was just before 6:20 p.m. Friday when a bullet struck Carnell as he was sitting with his mother at the Arthur Mays Villas housing community in Goulds in South Miami-Dade. The child was playing with other children and excited about learning to ride a bike he had just received when his life was taken.

Miami-Dade police said they found a single bullet casing not far from the shooting outside the home at 21491 SW 114th Ct. As of Tuesday morning police haven’t said if they have a suspect and no motive has been given. A reward for the capture and conviction of the child’s shooter has reached $25,000.

Also Friday night, a 17-year-old was shot and killed at the Trinidad Trailer Park in the 8200 block of Northwest Miami Court. Police said the shooter pulled up in a white car, opened fire and fled. He has not been captured and the teen’s name has not been released.

Then early Sunday morning at about 3 a.m., Vinson, 30, was shot and killed while sitting in a car at Southwest 147th Place and 285th Street. Witnesses told WPLG-Channel 10 that Vinson and her boyfriend were parked outside his mother’s home, when a car pulled up and an argument ensued. A second car pulled up and someone opened fire, the television station reported.

Anyone with information on any of the shootings should call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
