Doral residents, and commuters who use the Florida Turnpike’s exit onto 41st Street, may soon see normalcy return to a neighborhood that has had water woes for nearly a week.

Miami-Dade Water and Sewer lifted its boil water advisory on Saturday afternoon, nearly six days after a major water main break shut down a portion of Northwest 41st Street near Florida’s Turnpike on Monday.

Though water was only shut for about a day to residents and businesses near the break, and some nearby restaurants had to briefly close, a boil water order was in effect.

The break was caused by a contractor hitting a 24-inch water main on Monday afternoon while working on a beautification project. The rush hour accident damaged and flooded the roadway and caused a sinkhole. Repair crews closed Northwest 41st Street from 114th Avenue to 117th Avenue, including access from the Turnpike exit.

After five days of causing drivers to detour around the normally busy exit, the city expects the road to finally re-open later Saturday, so Monday’s business commute should be back to normal.
