There’s been another frightening incident involving Southwest Airlines.
This time it was on the ground.
A little more than two weeks ago, a passenger on a Southwest flight was killed after getting sucked through a window after a mid-air explosion.
On Monday, a little after midnight, a Boeing 737 from FLL had just landed at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport only to be struck by a truck traveling on the tarmac. Passengers were left waiting to disembark via an air staircase then get interviewed by police.
Someone named Rebekah tweeted out an apology from the airline’s Twitter account after a disgruntled passenger with the handle @LadyZ documented her displeasure online after the collision occurred.
“Plane hit something while pulling into the gate,” she posted. “Smh. Crazy couple of weeks for them.”
About an hour later, Lady Z was back griping, “Frustrating is not even the word,”
Then she decided to tweet directly at the embattled airline.
“@southwestairlines This is unacceptable,” the traveler complained. “We are now being asked to wait in a boarding area to talk to police about something that half of us didn’t see because it’s dark. Y’all have to do better. My car service is waiting and charging me because of an error that you all made.”
The airline made no formal statement pertaining to the accident.
Fellow passenger Michael Simon, a lacrosse player with the Denver Outlaws, posted a clear picture of the situation and made light of situation, saying he was an “airplane crash survivor.”
Is that it for Southwest’s problems?
Last week, a cracked window caused a flight from Chicago to Newark, New Jersey, to make an unscheduled landing in Cleveland. The company made sure to not call it an “emergency landing” in a tweet explaining what had happened.
Southwest isn’t the only airline with issues at the moment.
On Sunday, a JetBlue flight from San Juan to Tampa diverted to Fort Lauderdale “in an abundance of caution following a report of damage to one of the outer layers of the cockpit windscreen,” the low-cost carrier said in a statement. “The flight landed safely at approximately 1 p.m. local time. Customers have been accommodated on another aircraft.”
