Art Miami’s New Location Hopes to Ease Traffic, Parking Woes

Art lovers looking to enjoy abstract work works of art, twisted sculptures and neon lights will have to do so in new location during Art Miami this year.

Overlooking the glistening water in Downtown Miami, the annual event kicks off on Wednesday at the former site of the Miami Herald building.

“We’ve moved to our new exciting location down in Biscayne Bay nestled in between the Venetian Causeway and the McArthur Causeway,” said Art Miami’s Vice President Nick Korniloff.

Meanwhile on Miami Beach, Art Basel is expected to attract more than 70,000 people, even as the convention center undergoes renovations.

The event’s new location hopes to ease parking and congestion woes, as nearly 1,000 hotels on Miami Beach remain closed for repairs after damages sustained during Hurricane Irma.

“There’s a drop off and pick up and actually the water taxi will take you to the Marriott from the beach and you just walk a block. And there’s at six story parking garage,” said Korniloff.

Miami Art Week officially wraps on Sunday, capping of the event’s 28th edition.
