Travelers flying to Atlanta out of South Florida Monday morning remain stuck after a sudden power outage caused by a fire in an underground electrical facility brought Atlanta’s Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport to a standstill Sunday.

A number of incoming and outgoing flights were either delayed or cancelled at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Miami International Airport and Palm Beach International Airport.

On Sunday, more than 1,000 flights were grounded at Atlanta’s Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport just days before the start of the Christmas travel rush.

More than 10 hours after the blackout began, authorities announced that electricity had been fully restored to the airport.
