Broward County commissioners are discussing a number of resolutions Tuesday in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Among the resolutions being discussed at Tuesday’s meeting is an item that urges the federal legislature to fund the demolition and rebuilding of the school building where the Feb. 14 shooting took place.

Another resolution would ask federal and state lawmakers to take action on a gun control policy and give consideration to a comprehensive ban on semiautomatic rifles.

Commissioners and vice mayor Mark Bogen are also honoring Coconut Creek Police Officer Michael Leonard, who is responsible for the arrest of shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz.
