Police in Coconut Creek are investigating a domestic incident that led to a shootout and crash between two cars – leaving one man dead and one woman in the hospital.

Investigators say an officer noticed the two cars going the wrong way on Atlantic Boulevard toward Pompano Beach shortly before 9 p.m. Monday night. When they turned around to follow, one of the cars had crashed into the median near the Florida’s Turnpike after the female driver had been shot.

A short distance further, police found the second car that had also crashed with the male driver dead inside. Police have not determined if he died as a result of the crash or from gunshots.

The female victim was rushed to North Broward Medical Center, where her condition is unknow at this time. She told investigators the incident was domestic related and that the two drivers had been shooting at each other.

Police have not said what, if any, charges will be filed in the case.
