The Miami Dolphins have parted ways with running back Mark Walton after a reported police matter early Tuesday morning.
“We hold our players to a high standard and take these matters very seriously,” General Manager Chris Grier wrote in a statement without specifying the latest incident. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
Walton was suspended earlier this month by the NFL for four games after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He was due to return to the team after their December 1st game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
A South Florida native who starred at both Miami’s Booker T. Washington High School and the University of Miami, Walton was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 before he was released after being arrested three times this past offseason.
Walton ran for 201 yards on 53 carries this season while catching 15 passes for 89 yards without scoring a touchdown.
