Miami-Dade police on Tuesday identified the drivers involved in a fiery wreck between a police car on a chase and two SUVs over the weekend in Miami Gardens.

Ebony Nesbitt, a three-year Miami-Dade police veteran, was pursuing 38-year-old Bradys Balcinde of Miami Springs, after what police say started as an assault on the officer.

Nesbitt was heading south on Northwest Seventh Avenue when her police car collided with an Infiniti SUV heading west on 171st Street. Danielle Straughter, of Pembroke Pines, was behind the wheel of the Infiniti.

The force of the crash propelled the police car onto a Cadillac Escalade heading east on 171st Street. The Cadillac, driven by James Wright Jr., of Miramar, burst into flames, as did the police car.

The officer and the driver of the Infiniti were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.

Balcinde was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
