Miami-Dade police announced an emergency blood drive Monday at four locations around the county for Maj. Ricky Carter, critically injured Sunday in a motorcycle accident.

The drive will last until 3 p.m.. The sites are:

▪  Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Bloodmobile parked near the emergency room entrance

▪  The station Carter runs, Northside District Station, the corner of Northwest 81st Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue

▪  Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters, 9105 NW 25th St.

▪  The Kendall District Station, 7701 SW 117th Ave.

Identification is required.

While riding his Suzuki motorcycle south on Interstate 75 Sunday morning, Carter, a 21-year veteran of the department, lost control and skidded into a guardrail near Northwest 138th Street. He was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Monday morning found several police officers at Ryder, some there for Carter and some for a Miami police officer critically injured in Monday morning’s crash in Wynwood at Northwest 29th Street and Second Avenue.
