Father of Seven Shot, Killed Outside His Opa-locka Business

A family is in mourning and police are searching for answers after a father of seven was killed overnight outside of his Opa-locka business – with one of his daughters watching the whole incident.

Officials have not released many details, but did confirm that 47-year-old Joe Gonzalez was shot outside the business at 2150 Opa-locka Boulevard shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday. His daughter was not hurt in the shooting.

Family members described Gonzalez, who owned a radio installation business at the location, as a hardworking family man who was “everyone’s friend”.

“We are trying desperately to find out who did this so they can be brought to justice,” said his sister, Geeleen.

“This is going on in this city, day in and day out, said his father, Jose. “You have to know about these things.”

Police say they are looking for two black men who may be involved. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
