Officials are working to clear the scene of an early morning fiery crash involving a tractor trailer near downtown Miami that has closed all lanes of a major roadway.
Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Pete Sanchez said the crash took place just after 3:30 a.m. along State Road 112 near Northwest 17th Avenue.
Sanchez said a tractor trailer carrying just over 100 gallons of fuel side-swiped a SUV and jackknifed itself into the median before erupting in flames.
The driver was able to escape the tractor trailer and avoid serious injury, suffering minor burns. Three passengers in the SUV were treated for minor injuries at the scene and none were transported to the hospital.
Emergency vehicles are currently in lanes along both directions of the roadway attempting to remove the trailer and clear the scene, causing the Airport Expressway to be closed.
Drivers are advised to avoid the roadway for much of the morning rush hour as a Florida Highway Patrol investigation continues.
