Wednesday will mark the first full day of school for Stoneman Douglas High School students in three weeks.
Students were in school on an adjusted schedule.
U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos will be on the school’s campus on Wednesday, where she’s expected to address students and staff.
Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School returned to school three weeks ago following the deadly shooting that took place on Valentine’s Day. However, they have been attending classes on a modified schedule – until this morning.
Students will have their first full day of school on Wednesday since returning to the school.
Faculty and staff were attending classes on shortened, modified schedules until Wednesday. The purpose of this was to help transition the students back into the classroom and to help them heal following the tragedy that left 17 of their peers and colleagues dead.
Also on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos will join the students and staff on their first full day back.
It is expected that Devos will speak with students, teachers and staff on campus.
Last week, the Department of Education awarded a $1 million relief grant to the Broward County School District.
