Former Everglades High Student Threatened to ‘Shoot Up’ School: Police

A former student of Everglades High School in Miramar has been arrested for threatening to “shoot up” the school, police said.

Javary Angelo Meriwether, 28, was arrested Sunday on a charge of intimidation-writing or sending a threat to kill or injure, jail records showed.

Authorities said no credible threat exists, but they have increased police presence in and around high schools. No other details of the arrest were known.

Meriwether was being held without bond Monday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn’t available.
