Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shut down part of a concourse late Tuesday morning after a water leak caused flooding to affect four of the airport gates, officials said.
The water leak, which was reported around 10:15 a.m., initially shut down a security checkpoint in Terminal 4 before authorities shut down the portion of Concourse G, said Allan Siegel, the Broward County Aviation Department’s community outreach coordinator.
A portion of G Concourse is temporarily closed due to flooding. We will provide more information when it becomes available.

The four gates affected are mostly used by Spirit Airlines, though Siegel said he could not confirm other airlines were using those gates Tuesday. Siegel added that the airport has already alerted its airlines, and is notifying passengers through social media as airport maintenance workers finish repairing the leak.
It was not immediately clear how long repairs would take, Siegel said. The cause of the leak was also not yet known, he added.
