Police have released new surveillance video of a fatal hit-and-run crash in NW Miami-Dade, hoping to find the suspect behind the heartbreaking crime.

The Sept. 25th crash left the family of Freddy Sanchez yearning for answers. Sanchez was just getting out of work when he crossed the street in the 1000th block of NW 79th Street, the same street he crossed every night.

But the night took a tragic turn when Sanchez was hit by a driver who didn’t stop to help.

“He got hit so hard, the guy left his bumper behind and knocked him out of his shoes,” said Freddy’s brother, Angel.

The hit left Freddy critically injured. He died days later, on Oct. 3rd.

The Sanchez family said they just want the person responsible to come forward.

“Maybe you made a mistake. Maybe you were drunk. Maybe you were high. But just turn yourself in,” Angel Sanchez said. “Help us. Put yourself in our shoes. If it was your family, you’d want the same in return.”

The vehicle was a 2009-2014 silver Nissan Maxima, police said. The car has a missing bumper and damage to the front windshield.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
