Families interested in Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s homeownership program will have the opportunity to apply until Nov. 17. The nonprofit’s pre-qualification questionnaire is on its website.
“This is an exciting opportunity for hard-working families to become first-time homeowners,” said Nancy Robin, Habitat Broward’s CEO and executive director. “We encourage families to visit our site to learn more.”
On Habitatbroward.org, applicants can find out how the homeownership process works and learn about all the requirements. Those who meet the initial eligibility criteria will be invited to attend a homeowner orientation where they will be given a full application to complete.
Members of the volunteer Homeowner Support Committee will review the applications and supporting documentation to determine who is eligible to move to the next step, which includes a face-to-face interview and home visit.
Selected homeowners are required to take financial and money management courses, volunteer for 300 sweat equity hours and make a modest down payment.
