Hallandale Beach Cop Accused of Pawning Department Equipment

A Hallandale Beach police officer accused of pawning depart-issued equipment is facing criminal charges, authorities said.

Officer Yan Kleyman turned himself in to the Broward County jail Friday to face a charge of dealing in stolen property, Hallandale Beach Police Chief Sonia Quinones announced.

Kleyman, who has been with the department since 2011, was immediately fired, Quinones said. Attorney information wasn’t available.

Quinones said the department was performing a routine internal equipment audit when they made the discovery. Quinones didn’t describe what items were allegedly pawned.

“Mr. Kleyman’s alleged actions are not reflective of the dedicated men and women of this agency,” Quinones said in a statement.
