Hip Hop Star Tory Lanez Arrested in Broward County

Tory Lanez, a rising star in hip hop music, found himself behind bars in Broward County after allegedly being caught with a loaded gun and marijuana.

The 24-year-old, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was pulled over by police around 2 p.m. after officers say the 2014 Rolls-Royce he was driving did not have valid registration.

According to the arrest report, police smelled a strong odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle, finding less than 20 grams in the glove box as well as a loaded gun in the center console.

Peterson was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County jail on drug and weapons charges as well as operating a vehicle without a valid license and insurance along with failing to register a vehicle.

The Canadian born musician had a Pembroke Pines addressed listed on the arrest form, but has no license from Florida or any other state.

He received critical acclaim after the release of his debut album, with songs “Say It” and “Luv” both cracking the top 25 of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
