A man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Hialeah before turning the knife on himself is now facing murder charges, police said Friday.
Luis Palacios-Madariaga, 28, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the killing of 25-year-old Wendy Bandera, jail records showed.
Palacios-Madariaga remained hospitalized Friday following Wednesday’s stabbing near Hialeah City Hall. The body of Bandera was found in a car parked along the street outside the building at 501 Palm Avenue, with Palacios-Madariaga found injured nearby.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide attempt. Family members said the couple was in the middle of a divorce and that their relationship had deteriorated since they arrived in South Florida from Venezuela more than a year ago.
