Initial NMB Water Samples Are Clean; Notice Still in Effect

Initial water samples from North Miami Beach Water have come back clean Thursday after a precautionary boil water notice was issued one day earlier for North Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Sunny Isles Beach, Haulover Park, Golden Beach and other nearby neighborhoods.

Thirty-eight lab samples were free of contamination. North Miami Beach Water said it will wait on the results from a second round of samples before considering lifting the precautionary boil water notice.

A hotline has been set up for residents. Anyone seeking information can call 305-777-2525.

A power outage at a water plant, which services a huge swath of North Dade, caused the water pressure throughout the distribution system to drop below the standard rate.

Residents were advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes.

The water department advised residents to allow a rolling boil for one minute.

The “Boil Water Notice” will remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours or until water samples are approved by the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, North Miami Beach Water said.
