The on-going saga to bring a soccer team and stadium to Miami is heating up yet again. A resolution spearheaded by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro, outlines a plan for the creation of a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) that would include Marlins Park and the surrounding area; using the tax revenue to buy the 10.5 acres just west of the park and include an extension of Metromover from downtown to the proposed site. But, in order to create the CRA, the area must first be deemed as “slum and blighted”. Additionally, David Beckham and company appear to have a new partner in this venture – Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
