ISSUES: Code of Silence – Youth & Gun Violence

It started with a Facebook feud and ended with an innocent first grader being killed. The senseless shooting death of 6 year old King Carter has struck a nerve with both local officials and residents and they are demanding both change and immediate action. The consensus: speak up. A vocal proponent of ending this “code of silence”, M-D Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said “we must not allow ourselves to become desensitized when news of juveniles getting shot in our community becomes an almost daily occurrence.” So, what is being done by law enforcement and how can the community help?
