ISSUES: Florida Legislative Special Session

The recent Florida legislative session came to a rocky end a few weeks ago, under what the Florida Supreme Court ruled was a violation of the state constitution. According to their ruling, the House broke the law when they ended the session three days early, due to an impasse with the Senate over healthcare funding. On Thursday, the federal government indicated the state should expect major reductions in the coming years to help pay for uncompensated care (LIP) and needs to reform its hospital payment system, saying the state may need to justify almost $1 billion in government funding. Now that a special session is set to begin on June 1st, how will this and other issues finally be resolved in order to balance the state budget?
