With just days left before the legislative session is scheduled to end, both the Florida House and Senate remain at an impasse over how to deal with a potential $1.3 billion deficit in the state’s healthcare budget. The culprit: The federal government is ending the “low income pool” — or LIP — which helps hospitals cover the costs of treating the uninsured and Medicaid patients.
