After a string of youth-involved gun violence and deaths of local children caught in the crosshairs – such as 6 year old King Carter – community leaders and residents have come out in full force to demand change. Most importantly, this change, they say, can only be accomplished by working together in a concerted effort to put the welfare of the area’s children first. Superintendent Alberto Carvalho sits down to discuss his efforts to combat this violence and his disappointment with a 1% increase in state funds allocated for education.
