La Empanada Loca used to be a mobile food truck but it has recently opened a quaint restaurant on Dixie Highway in Oakland Park just south of Commercial Boulevard.

We had the Shrimp Scampi at $15.95 and a Steak Mofongo at $11.95.

Both came with two sides. I had the Scampi with Beans and Fried Yucca and the other person in our party had the Steak with Fried Plantations and Rice. All the food excellent.

The restaurant even has fresh flowers on the 6 Tables inside the restaurant and there are a couple of sidewalk tables outside.

The only negatives are it’s not near the beach and the immediate area is a business industrial area. Had it been on say Las Olas Blvd or A1A it would have earned easily a 5 Star Review, something we rarely give out.

The cute little young Latina servers are a sure fire reason to visit this spot, they’re adorable.

The food was well prepared and served super fast by a friendly young staff. It is moderately priced with sandwiches as low as $8.00 and the most expensive entree only $18.00 or so.

If you want affordable great authentic Puerto Rican Food in a clean environment you will not be disappointed.
