Larsen actually was born in Kansas, although he grew up in the Tampa area and spent his first four seasons in the NFL playing for the Buccaneers.
Along with the chance to play with a team on the rise coming off a playoff season, Larsen also has the opportunity to get back near the water after spending last season with the Chicago Bears.
“It’s exciting,” Larsen said in a conference call Friday. “The heat and the humidity is a challenge. Hopefully you’re able to use that as a weapon against other teams. Coming back (to Florida), I’ve got two kids and my wife and we’re going to able to enjoy living near the water. We’re going to take advantage of that.
“For me that’s awesome. Everglades. Biscayne Bay. Being able to enjoy that with my children is really important. Hunting, fishing, paddleboarding, I do really enjoy. And that’s one of the things I’ve missed, the fishing.”
Larsen joins the Dolphins after splitting his first seven NFL seasons with the Bucs (2010-13), Cardinals (2014-15) and Bears (2016).
Along with experience, Larsen brings to the Dolphins offensive line the ability to play all three interior positions.
And don’t even ask him to pick his favorite.
