Man Shot After Using North Miami Beach ATM

The North Miami Beach Police Department said one person was shot after he used a Bank of America ATM by a suspect who fled.

The incident occurred near NE 163rd Street and 11th Avenue. Witnesses told NBC 6 that the victim and his mother arrived in a van parked near the bank prior to the shooting.

Police said the victim was transported to the hospital, adding that the suspect fled the scene. Employees from a nearby restaurant rushed to help the victim after the shooting.

“It’s a little bit scary if you think about it,” John Pereira, who was nearby when the shooting occurred, said. “I was actually walking by. Walked over a block to Chase and deposited some money just a few minutes before that happened so it’s pretty scary.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
