Police are attempting to secure a man who barricaded himself on the roof of a building in Downtown Hollywood and began throwing debris to the ground below, officials say.

According to Hollywood Police spokesperson Christian Lata, at around 3 a.m., an  unidentified man was reported on top of a 26-story building under construction in Hollywood’s Young Circle.

Lata say a concerned citizen called the Hollywood Police Department because they heard noises coming from the construction site. Once officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the man.

Authorities say the man ignored officers and proceeded to climb a crane. The man has thrown several objects down, including buckets, wood, plastic and clothing. As of noon, the man is still on top of the building.

This is a developing story; check back with NBC 6 for updates as more details are provided.
