Man Wanted in Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Murder Arrested: Cops

A man wanted in the killing of a woman whose body was discovered after a SWAT team responded to a Fort Lauderdale home has been arrested on a murder charge, police said Monday.

Thomas Smith, 52, was taken into custody Saturday night and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Jennifer Silva, whose body was found in a home in the 800 block of Southwest 4th Street on Nov. 28, Fort Lauderdale Police officials said.

Police said the SWAT team responded to the home after they were made aware of a possible body inside and found Silva. The cause of death hasn’t been released.

An arrest warrant had been issued last week for Smith, who is a resident of Fort Lauderdale, police said. He was booked into jail where he was being held without bond Monday, records showed. Attorney information wasn’t available.
