A man wanted in a Miami Gardens shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured was arrested in north Florida by agricultural officers, officials said Thursday.

Emmanuel Saint Fleur, 34, was taken into custody Wednesday at a rest stop on Interstate 10 in Madison County near Tallahassee, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam said in a news release.

Putnam said officers working at an agricultural inspection station were alerted to a stolen truck that had just gone through the station. The truck and Saint Fleur were found at the nearby rest stop.

Saint Fleur was wanted by Miami Gardens police on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and burglary in the Tuesday morning shooting at a home near Northwest 17th Place and 157th Street.

Police said Saint Fleur went to his ex-wife’s home, where he shot her mother and brother while his ex-wife fled the home. The mother, 69-year-old Paula Danis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The brother, 32-year-old Jude Danis, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Putnam said Saint Fleur confessed to stealing the truck from a former employer in the Fort Lauderdale area, and told officers there was a firearm in the truck. Saint Fleur also admitted to shooting two people in South Florida, Putnam said.
