The Omni Metromover loop will close for up to a week on Sunday for nearby utility work, forcing passengers of the automated rail line to take buses to their stops.
Miami-Dade announced the closing Friday afternoon, saying service will stop at 2 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, and will be shut down for up to seven days. The other two elevated rail lines in the county’s Metromover system, Brickell and Inner, won’t be affected by the Omni disruption. The free system of automated rail cars runs throughout Miami.
A release announcing the shutdown described construction crews “relocating utilities.” More details were not immediately available.
County buses will run to and from all Omni stations during the shutdown, with arrivals and departures scheduled for every 10 to 15 minutes. For information, visit the Transit website.
