Officer Struck by Motorcyclist in Busy Miami Beach

An officer was struck by a motorcyclist Friday in busy Miami Beach during spring break.

A motor officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist in the area of 7th Street and Collins Avenue, where the motorcyclist struck him, according to Miami Beach police.

The subject is in custody, and the officer is being transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

The 700 block of Collins Avenue is closed to all traffic.

Miami Beach police are gearing up for another busy spring break weekend. Mayor Dan Gelber promised a step up in law enforcement since residents complained about spring break visitors causing chaos.
