Officer Unhurt for Injuries After Deadly Miami-Dade Shooting

A Miami-Dade Police officer was unhurt after being involved in a deadly morning shooting Wednesday inside of a gated residential community.

Chopper 6 was over the scene at the Caribe Lakes complex near Southwest 32nd Street and 157th Avenue after a call was placed about a medical situation shortly after 7 a.m.

In a morning press conference, MDPD Director Juan Perez said officers arrived after the first call and found a woman dead inside the home before the officer involved was forced to open fire on another man inside, killing that person.

The officer involved, whose name was not released, was evaluated by paramedics at a nearby scene but was not hurt according to Perez.

Perez did not release the names of either person killed in the incidents or the names of the two teens inside, only adding that neither one was hurt during the incidents inside the home.
