One person died after fire broke out inside of a house in Plantation early Saturday morning.

Fire rescue crews responded to the one alarm fire inside the home located at the 1000 block of Northwest 99th Avenue just after 5:30 a.m.

Neighbors called 911 and crews arrived to find the home with flames inside one bedroom.

Plantation Police Department officials said one person died in the fire, but did not release their identity.

Another person was transported to Westside Regional Medical Center, where they were treated for smoke inhalation and are expected to be okay. Neighbors said a father and son lived inside the home, but that was not confirmed by police.

“It’s tragic,’ said Erik Anderson, a neighbor who knew the family. “My kids when they were young went to him for piano instruction. So my kids and my family have been in that house.”

Anderson said he knows what the family was going through after his own home caught fire several years ago.

“It contains every inch of your house. It gets into your files, and all your clothing and all your closets and all your memories,” he said. “It something you’ll always live with whether someone passes away or not.”

Investigators have not released details on how the fire started at this time.
