Three parachutists were rushed to the hospital after an early morning accident during a training exercise at Homestead Air Force Base.

Emergency crews arrived to the scene shortly after 4 a.m., with all three victims being taken to either Jackson South Hospital or Ryder Trauma Center where their conditions are unknown at this time.

Sources told NBC 6 the three injured were involved in a training exercise called a “halo jump”, where they were as high as 14,000 feet in the air before opening their chutes shortly before hitting the ground.

Information from the Federal Aviation Administration said the airspace around the base was reserved from Monday through Thursday for exercises.
