A Pembroke Pines Police officer had his hands full when he responded to a call of a massive Burmese python Thursday night.
Officer Cabrera responded to the Chapel Trail area near U.S. 27 and Johnson Street where he encountered the 12 and a half foot snake.
Cabrera was able to wrangle the python and take it to a police station until a licensed python remover arrived. Officers from the department even posed for a photo with the massive snake.
The department warned residents to not approach pythons but to call 911.
Snakes are not an uncommon sight to Floridians, but Burmese pythons are an invasive species & a real threat to local wildlife, pets, and even children. If you see a snake please do not approach it. If the snake is a danger to you or the surrounding area contact 911. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/62DVUxAvQK
