Authorities responded to a parking lot outside the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise Monday morning as part of a possible search for a murder suspect.

Officers responded to the parking lot near the Rooms to Go at 1905 N. Flamingo Road, where an armored truck and several officers surrounded a car.

Sunrise Police officials said they were assisting authorities from Indian River County in the search for a murder suspect who may be in the area.

Police didn’t release the name of the suspect, but it’s believed to be Pedro Torres, who authorities are looking for as a person of interest in the Sunday morning murder of his wife, Vicky Torres.

Flamingo Road was shut down in the area and people were advised to stay away.

No other information was immediately known.
