Fort Lauderdale police say Fort Lauderdale’s John Jackson was working on his broken down car in front of the Midway Food Store when someone with a gun made Saturday the last of Jackson’s 18,555 days alive.

Jackson, 50, got fatally shot around 12:55 a.m. Surveillance video released Monday shows the man police tap as the main suspect outside the store at 106 NW 11th Ave., also called the Dixie Court Food Market (the Dixie Court housing projects are nearby). Police describe the suspect as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, medium build, full beard and all black clothing.

Anyone with information on this case or the suspect can call Det. Jim Jaggers at 954-828-5970 or 954-828-5534.
