A prisoner escaped from state custody in the Homestead area Wednesday afternoon.

Homstead police set up a command post at Southwest 312th Street and Southwest 147th Avenue as they searched the surrounding area for Marv Hubbard, 40, a 6-1, 177-pound black male. Hubbard, from Broward County, did five months for driving without a license, and began a 20-year sentence for burglary in August 2007.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more is learned.
