The hunt is on for the man caught on surveillance video breaking into a northwest Miami-Dade school – making off with a cart full of computers worth between 50 to 60 thousand dollars.
This theft took place Saturday morning at D.A. Dorsey educational center
In surveillance video, the man can be seen using a rock to slam through the glass window before taking the items.
“Someone in the dark of night just walks away with them robbing individuals of educational opportunities,” said Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho. “A $6 million investment in the school and it’s an outrage, an insult that somebody would get in the way of that.”
School officials say the trade school brings economic opportunities for adults in the community, and a lot of the stolen equipment was bought with grant money.
They say when it comes to someone’s education being in the balance, this act will not be tolerated.
“When you violate the sanctity of a school, you’re violating the sanctity of what’s most important in our community,” Carvalho said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.
