‘Senseless’: Family, Cops Want Pair ID’d After Miami Woman Killed

Police and family members are asking for the public’s help in finding whoever is behind the “senseless” killing of a woman outside her home in Miami last month.

Shelsy Medina, 27, was exiting her car outside her home in the 4900 block of Northwest 199th Street on March 23 when she was shot and killed, Miami-Dade Police officials said.

Detectives believe the motive for the shooting may have been a robbery, but said they’re exploring all possibilities.

“A piece of our family was taken,” father Waldo Medina told reporters at a news conference Tuesday. “This has totally destroyed our family.”

Detectives also released surveillance video on Tuesday showing two people at the location during the incident. The two people are seen running from the scene after the shooting, detectives said.

“She was a very loved daughter,” said Medina, who said he spoke with her an hour before she was killed. “Her last words to me were ‘I love you dad.’ Just an hour before she was taken from us. It’s senseless.”

Police said they need help identifying the two people in the video. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
