After a cooler and drier pattern for the past few days, rain will make rapid return to the forecast in South Florida in serious amounts.

An area of low pressure sliding out of the Northwest Caribbean on Saturday will set up our area to see anywhere between two and four inches of rain throughout the day – with localized flooding possible in areas that see abundant rainfall.

Because of the potential of locally heavy rainfall, the NBC 6 First Alert Weather Team has declared that Saturday will be a “First Alert Weather Day.”

The good news is that only half of the weekend looks to be a washout. A cold front will clear the region on Sunday, allowing for cooler and drier weather to return with temperatures dipping back into the 50s overnight.
