Miami Beach police released a sketch Tuesday of a man who detectives say sexually assaulted a woman in her apartment early Sunday morning.
The victim worked with a police artist Monday to come up with a composite sketch of the man, who has brown “bulging eyes” and was wearing a dark hoodie with no shirt.
Police spent Tuesday afternoon passing out fliers near the 8300 block of Crespi Boulevard, where the attack took place.
According to police, the woman was sleeping on her couch when the intruder came in through an unlocked window. She woke up after feeling someone touching her crotch, according to the police report. The man had his jeans unzipped and was yelling at her to look at his penis, police said.
Police said the man stole $52 and the woman’s iPad before taking off.
The intruder is described as a white man between 20 and 25 years old, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 160 pounds.
Police have no reason to believe, but are not ruling out, the possibility that Sunday’s attack could be tied to a rash of sexual assaults three years ago across South Florida. In those cases, the intruder was dubbed The Creeper.
The differences: Sunday’s attacker was menacing and stole personal belongings. The Creeper was mostly quiet and never stole anything.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
