Small Plane Runs Out of Gas, Lands On Highway Near Orlando

A small plane landed on Interstate 4 near Orlando after running out of gas on Friday, WESH 2 News reported.

The emergency landing occurred in Longwood at about 3:45 p.m. The section on which the plane landed is newly paved and had not yet been opened for traffic.

Officials said the pilot attempted to land on a golf course, but chose I-4 when he realized he would not reach the destination, WESH added.

“He did an amazing job,” a witness said of the pilot.
