Student Arrested for Threat at Young Men’s Prep: Carvalho

A student was arrested after making a hoax threat on social media, Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent said Tuesday.

Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said the student made the threat against Young Men’s Preparatory Academy on Northwest 2nd Avenue in Miami.

Carvalho said there was an extra police presence at the school in an abundance of caution. No other details about the threat were given.

“Parents, I urge you to continue to speak to your children about the consequences of posting messages of a threatening nature or that can disrupt the educational environment,” Carvalho tweeted. “Hoax threats dealt with to the full extent of law.”
