Suspect in Custody After Pursuit, Crash in Northeast Miami-Dade

A suspect was taken into custody Thursday after a leading a pursuit that ended in a crash in northeast Miami-Dade.

The chain of events ultimately ended in the area of 195 NE 183rd Street, or Miami Gardens Drive, and involved multiple police agencies.

City of Miami police were initially following a man involved in a shooting in a different location, authorities said. That suspect took off in a vehicle and led a chase with multiple officers from different departments pursuing him.

The chase ended in a crash — which was caught on surveillance video — on Miami Gardens Drive, and the suspect got out of the vehicle and took off running, police said. Authorities set up a perimeter and located the suspect.

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the crash.

The incident involved police from Miami, Miami-Dade and Miami Gardens departments.
